We understand that companies can perceive the cost of instructing a solicitor to be daunting, particularly if faced with the costs of defending a claim.  In light of this, some employers prefer to operate without legal advice in the hope that they will avoid difficulties.  However, in a litigation culture, the cost for an employer who fails to legally prepare and defend itself appropriately can be severe.

In an attempt to assist businesses with this dilemma, we have developed three flexible fee arrangements to give our clients access to instant legal advice whilst offering financial peace of mind regarding their legal spend.

These are:

  • Personnel Solutions
  • Retainer
  • Capped Tribunal fees

Personnel Solutions Package

This is an insurance backed process that is tailored to our clients' needs.  The cost of the service plus, the insurance premium is split into 12 monthly instalments.  For this, the client gets access to our entire team of eight qualified solicitors on the end of a phone at anytime during office hours.  In addition, in the event that a claim is made against the client, the insurance claim will cover the costs of defending the claim, together with any award made in the event that you are unsuccessful in Tribunal.

Retainer arrangements

Our client agrees a fixed employment law spend for the year, the cost of which is then split into fixed monthly or quarterly instalments.  In addition to this, should that client go over the cost of the retainer they receive the added comfort of a 10% discount on the team's hourly charge out rate and of all fees over the agreed figure for the remainder of the year.

Capped fee tribunal representation

Due to the potential for spiralling costs in employment Tribunal claims, we have introduced fixed fees for certain Tribunal claims.  Under this scheme, you will be given a capped figure for the work, up to and including representation at the final hearing.  This will assist in budgeting and a cost/benefit analysis when considering settlement.
