Compromise Agreements are in many cases a cheaper and more attractive solution to a long and protracted litigious dispute.  They can offer a definitive end to any employment dispute in that the employee will, in agreeing to enter into such a contract, sign over his or her rights to bring an employment claim.  As such, compromise agreements offer employers peace of mind from the fear of defending a potentially expensive claim in the future.  From employees perspective, compromise agreements offer employees a sense of justice and a clean break from the previous employment allowing them to move on with their working lives.

The Employment Department has extensive experience in both drafting compromise agreements on behalf of employer clients and advising employees, directors and other executives on the implications of compromise agreements.  We have advised on settlement agreements providing in excess of £1,000,000 and we have also acted for employees receiving less than £1,000.  In addition, we have acted for employees working outside the UK requiring complex repatriation and financial packages.  We have also acted as panel solicitors providing advice to employees of several well known and large organisations in cases involving large scale dismissals via compromise agreements.
