Collaborative Law
Collaborative Law is a new and exciting initiative in its early days in the United Kingdom. It has many of the advantages of mediation whilst at the same time including constant support from the collaborative lawyers. At the outset of the collaborative process both Clients sign an agreement in which they indicate their full commitment to the process and confirm that if agreement is not reached, neither party can use his or her existing solicitor in any other form of dispute resolution. No applications to the Court are permitted during the process and so the ''threat'' of court proceedings is removed. All negotiations take place openly in a series of face to face meetings with Clients and their lawyers present. The process is ideally suited to cases involving children and can often be faster and less costly than other more traditional ways of resolving matters.
Paris Smith LLP have an established Collaborative Law practice and have a choice of collaboratively trained lawyers. The Head of Department, Huw Miles and Rachel Osgood would be happy to discuss your individual requirements with you at any time.
