Arbitration is a forum and process of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).  The parties to a dispute employ an independent Arbitrator at their joint expense to determine the appropriate resolution to a dispute as the Arbitrator sees fit having due regard to the provisions of the Arbitration Acts and the relevant elements of the Civil Procedure Rules.

Arbitration is a common method of ADR, where a dispute arises between parties from different legal jurisdictions.  In such circumstances, issues of language, culture and attitude are often as important in resolving the dispute as the facts of the dispute itself and the legal principles governing them.  Arbitration can accommodate these differences.

Our Dispute Resolution Team is experienced in conducting both Arbitrations within the jurisdiction of England and Wales and International Arbitrations.  We have successfully conducted Arbitrations in foreign jurisdictions.  Paris Smith has good working relationships with overseas lawyers and experts to assist in International Arbitrations, and can call upon their assistance as necessary.
